Birmingham Library Program: Mission Statement
In partnership with students, teachers, parents, and district leadership, BPS libraries will provide curriculum aligned with the National School Library Standards. Our curriculum empowers students to inquire, include, collaborate, curate, explore, and engage while they learn in the library and classroom. We help our students develop skills to use technology in responsible ways to research, create, communicate, collaborate, think, and increase knowledge.
In addition to our teaching work, we develop collections of resources for our entire learning community. These resources meet our students' needs for information, social emotional learning, and engagement of the heart to build strong, healthy habits for the world we live in.
