Work Permits
Please feel free to download the appropriate work permit based on your age. Once you have completed Section I and your employer has finished Section II, kindly send the form to (chenne@birmingham.k12.mi.us) via email. The form will be returned to you by email, or you can make arrangements to collect it from the Seaholm Student Center (counseling) during school hours.
After the last day of school, you can continue using the same process mentioned above (email only), or you may take the hardcopy to the BPS Education Administration Center for authorization.
When submitting the permit, it is crucial to provide all the necessary information. Permits that have missing details will be sent back to the student for completion, which will cause a delay in the process.
- The amended law allows in-person, remote and electronic methods that are acceptable to the school or school district issuing the work permit. As such, all permits may be completed by scans and email.
- The amended law removed the yellow and pink paper distinctions. The act now uses a different means to distinguish work permits for youth under age 16 versus those 16-17 years of age. Landscape for under 16 and portrait for 16-17 years of age.
